Beauty and Accounting – My Why!

Hi,

So I am Ria-Jaine and I would like to welcome you to my first ever blog for Ria-Jaine Accounts. I thought this would be a good opportunity to provide you with a little insight into what my objectives are with this new business venture and why I am specialising in Accounts and Personal Tax for the Beauty Industry.

Firstly what isn’t there to love about being pampered, having your nails done or topping up your lashes. Well I found something that I did like better than receiving these treatments and that was giving them and making others feel good. My passion for beauty only sparked around 3 years ago whilst I was battling a never-ending spell of postnatal anxiety (it is a thing – I really didn’t know it existed until it happened to me) and so I distracted myself from life and completed training in Nails, Lashes, and Waxing.

During the past 10 years, I have been studying and working within the accounting industry. I had an amazing career working for one of the big four accounting firms and within my former role, I gained great exposure and understanding in accounting and personal tax, which has given me some valuable skills that I can apply to my business.  I thoroughly enjoy working on and studying accounts, so much so that I have won awards in the accounting sector for my determination and achievements whilst studying.

I was never quite ready to go at it alone though. Until now.

Fast forward to today and I am qualified, insured and confident enough to choose the right niche and put my business model out there. I love to lash or create pretty nails but my passion for numbers and accounting is still strong. During my beauty training, I came across a lot of people who were unsure of the whole process in setting up as a freelance nail tech or lash artist etc. A few didn’t know that they needed to sign up for self-assessment or that they could claim tax relief on certain items of expenditure. So I began keeping contact with people I met in training and helping them with the maze of self-assessment. It was then I thought that I could make this my full-time job giving me the best of both worlds… Beauty in accounting… Accounts and Beauty.. Beauty Tax.. I had so many business names and taglines and then I realised that I just wanted to be me.. Ria-Jaine.

And here we are!!

I cant wait to meet my future clients, this is more than just tax to me. My passion for beauty remains strong and I am making it my mission to approach as many educators and beauty academies as I can to promote my workshops that will help newly self-employed or existing beauty businesses make an informed decision as to whether they would like to complete their own accounts or sign up for one of my bespoke packages. After all if your spending a minimum 4 hours a month on accounts and missing out on time for the business then it makes beautiful business sense to sign up for a bespoke accounting and tax return preparation package (starting from £20per month!!) with an accountant who knows and is part of the ever growing beauty sector.

I am excited to be able to work alongside people that share this common interest. I would love to know a little more about you all. Please do leave a comment and let me know any questions you have or any areas that you would like me to cover in my youtube!! I couldn’t quite master a nail art channel so think I would do better to focus on accounts for my you tube channel to be safe as that is where I have the greater skill set to share with you all.
